Specter
One shot, fully meant.

What is the Specter?
A charge-and-release railgun that trades time for damage. Hold, and the Specter gathers a shot that can delete half a ship; release, and it lands the same instant. There is no dodging it, only not being on the line.
How do you fly the Specter?
The railgun asks one question: how long do you dare to hold? A tap is a snapshot: quick, modest, honest. A full charge is an execution, but for a second and a half you are a ship flying in a straight-enough line with your nose promising exactly where the shot goes. The shot lands the instant you let go, from further away than anyone actually fights. That means the Specter's fight starts earlier than everyone else's: pick a lane, start the charge on the approach, and release the moment the line is true. Weakened ships are what the gun is for. The kill feed's second name is usually yours.
How do you beat the Specter?
The wind-up is loud on purpose. Cyan crackle at a Specter's nose means a line is being drawn, and every answer is some version of not being on it: cut across, close to knife range where holding a charge is suicide, or put rock on the line, because the beam stops at cover. It is lightly built and loses most fair fights it hasn't opened; force the brawl and the gun becomes ballast.
The StarForge Circuit
The rail assembly predates the paddock's records, and the machinists who service it say the tolerances are wrong for human shipyards: too fine, and in the wrong places. It holds a charge the way a debt holds interest. Nobody knows what it was built to punch through. The rock it was found under suggests something with more hull than anything flying today.
How it plays
- Charge-and-release beam: quick snapshots or held executions.
- The shot lands the instant you release, from well outside a dogfight.
- Lightly armored, and the charge roots your aim. Commit carefully.
